Fascinating ideas, clumsy follow-through I did enjoy The Dance of the Dissident Daughter. The author's journey was clearly genuine, and I couldn't agree more with the sentiment expressed: Orthodox Christianity has systematically suppressed expressions of the Feminine Divine, to the point of suppressing all feminine power and feminine voices. The time is ripe for a change. ^M
Sorry, no fan here I also, have had to find my spiritual path. At some point, many women "wake up" and take ownership of their own selves. I did this at age 35. ^M
A Luminous Journey This extrordinary book explore one woman's journey to spiritual wholeness, as she explores the deep impact upon her inner being of the sexism and patriarchal misogyny of today's dominant religious paths, with their emphasis upon male Deity forms, to the total exclusion of women and the feminine. Sue Monk Kidd takes this journey with extrordinary clarity, exploring the emotional and spiritual damage done to women's soul, to be excluded so totally, in the context of Christianity. Her transcendent realizations, during her journey, illuminate the reasons why so many of us have chosen to worship Goddess, and to walk the path of unity with all of Her shining life on this magnificient planet we all share. |
