NRSV Review
The cover is too floppy and the pages too thin. This makes it difficult to flip between pages. Also, in the middle of the book, the pages were cut incorrectly (they are folded over). I would not buy this again and as a matter of fact, will need to buy another version to replace this.
THE HARPER COLLINS STUDY BIBLE- WITH THE APOCRYPHAL /DEUTOROCANONICAL BOOKS
A great study bible. The inclusion of the rare Deutorocanonical/Apocryphal Books makes this a unique and complete document.
This is a great study Bible!
I just bought my cousin a copy, as she recently converted to Christianity and is attending study classes. Personally, I like the NRSV's emphasis on women in the development of the Christian church and acknowledgement of the importance of keeping women involved in Christian churches; Jesus certainly treated women as equals and human beings, so it's entirely appropriate, even fundamentalist in the truest sense of the word, to make this revision. For a non-Christian, this study Bible is the most accessible and clear, and the contextual explanations are not so dumbed-down as to be generalized to the point of unreadable. Other versions I've read have bored me to tears, obviously had mangled translations (from the perspective of a language student), were simply very poorly written and, in one memorable occasion, were factually incorrect in their explanation of historical context.^M
