Thorough, grounded, and applicable

Grudem's Systematic Theology is a great resource for any student of God's word. His chapters are broken down into clear topics, and each topic is heavily supported by Scripture. His modesty does not demand you to agree with him 100%, and on a few small points I do not, but it is well worth reading. His theology follows a "face-value" interpretation of Scripture, so he does not stray from the context. Especially appealing are his suggested memory verses that apply to each doctrine, and the hymns and application questions that make you think about what you have just read. Excellent resource also in the pursuit in coming to know God by learning about His attributes.

If you only ever buy one book besides the Bible...

If you only ever buy one book besides the Bible, this should be that book. Every Christian home should have a copy. My home has two; some family member invariably has one copy at their bedside because they're studying some subject or other, so we keep another copy on the bookshelf as a reference for the rest of the family. But that one disappears a lot too, so we may need to get a third.^M

A Must Have

"Two Thumbs Up" Wayne Grudem has done it again! Systematic theology is a wonderful book to get started into theology or dive deeper into your faith. I recommend you use various theology books to determine your thoughts but I must say that I agree the most with Wayne Grudem.
