Here's what I want

Right now I have many translations, this one featuring the KJV,Amp, NASB, and NIV gives pretty good scope. However, missing are a few componants of a true study aid that would add further value. (1) Cross reference system, (2) Key word lookup with Hebrew and Greek concordance section, (3) Study tools i.e. charts, timelines, historical insight etc..., (4) indexing tabs, (5) Subject Index. While most modern texts contain maps, I have seen only one which detailed the Roman system of Vias (roads) in and around the Roman Empire. Okay, I'm getting picky, but why not? I have one Key word KJV, with Hebrew and Greek concordance, and strong's numbering system... but no crossreferencing, or tabs or other goodies. I have another "Study" text with just about everything except the Key word and Hebrew/Greek strongs. My KJV Study and NIV study differ quite a bit. Amplified is nice but is strictly a text, just like the Fenton or the Webster. The Living Application is great... but at times I get lost because of my longstanding relationship with the KJV. So I'm forced to confine my serious study in an office atmosphere rather than anywhere. ^M

NOT Disappointed. . .

Unlike a prior reviewer, I definitely don't have 20/20 vision. However, I found the layout of this Bible very amenable to Bible study. I particularly appreciate Zondervan's giving the Amplified translation more room in the NT so that the total Bible size can be held down. Certainly these pages are thin, and I probably wouldn't recommend a lot of marking on them, but again, this was done in the interest of holding the total size and weight to a reasonable level. And yes, I consider it reasonable; I've got other study Bibles as heavy as this one. I won't give 5 stars because I think construction quality should be better, but we'll just keep the bookbinders in business! All parallel Bibles have to necessarily be a compromise and I think this is a superb one. Highly recommended.
