Transformation Definitely on my list of life transforming books. I could not put it down. By transforming, I mean that after reading this book I have a greater appreciation of the Mass and this book has renewed my fervor for the Mass. The only thing that I wish is that he had touched more on is our personal transformation in Christ at reception of the Eucharist-- what I mean is the Living Tabernacles that we ourselves become by receiving Jesus in the Eucharist and how this transformation in Christ also relates to eschatology. Maybe another topic for another book. This book is clear concise and jam packed with information. Highly recommended for Protestants or converts or lapsed Catholics, or Catholics going through a "dark night of the soul".
Revelation a Blueprint for the Mass? BRILLIANT!!! In "The Lamb's Supper," the former Presbyterian minister turned Catholic, Dr. Scott Hahn, gives wonderful insight into the link between the Book of Revelation and the Catholic Mass. He successfully shows that Revelation is a blueprint for the Mass, and that the Mass is perfectly in unison with the heavenly court of worship. After reading this book, I have attended every Mass much more devoutly and with much greater understanding, and have read the Book of Revelation with a great sense of hope and joy instead of fear and anxiety. Dr. Hahn has converted over 1,000 Protestant ministers and intellectuals in the United States alone with his writings, and I have no doubt that this book has contributed to that number and will gain many more souls for Holy Mother Church in the future. I lent this book to a friend of mine who was contemplating converting from Southern Baptist to Catholic as the best possible explanation of the Mass. She never really talked to me about the book, but she hasn't missed a Mass since and is now in full communion with the Church. Blessed be God in his angels and in his saints!
Takes Mass to the next level If Mass was two-dimensional before, it will be three-dimensional after reading this book. I didn't get it all in the first read. After reading this once, I went on to read The Mass of the Early Christians, by Mike Aquilina, which has a mind-blowing Introduction written by Scott Hahn. The two combined were able to stretch my mind enough to understand the Lamb's Supper the second time I read it. The experience has changed my life. |
