Holy Bible King James Version Study Bible
Very happy with this bible. I received it very quickly and will order from this seller again. ^M
Great Notes Overshadows Durability Weakness
The format and notes of the King James Study Bible are so superior that despite relatively poor cover and paper durability, it still rates 5 stars from me for a KJV study Bible. In contrast to the Life Application Study Bible, this Bible's notes are more doctrinal than applicational, less subjectivity. In contrast to the Ryrie (also excellent), which addresses key doctrines in a section in the back, this Bible has an index listing the doctrines and where to find them, but conveniently locates each doctrine's at length treatment on a page of text that illustrates a primary instance of that doctrine. I particularly like that the bottom-of-the page running notes are supplemented by boxed-off notes tagged with an icon to indicate archaeological, biographical, or key doctrinal highlights. No helps are lacking--harmony of gospels, topical topical index, substantial concordance, and more. Print is crisp. On the downside, for those who want the notes but not in the KJV, you're out of luck, this is the only Bible version these notes accompany--however, the archaic words do often have a modern equivalent in the margin, if that's the issue. (But if accuracy of translation's underlying text-type is the issue for you, get a good NASB translation study Bible, like Ryrie's.)
Defense Of The Gospel
I always say, "If we don't know the word, how can we defend our faith. Paul said, "I am set for the denfence of the gospel" (Php 1:17). The King James Study Bible has the tools I need. Whether preparing a message, sunday school, or bible class, it has helped me to understand, retain, and share more knowledge of the word of God.
