Great Translation, Great Bible!

I first was exposed to the Youth Bible in 1997-98 as part of a VBS class I was taking at the time. The Youth Bible - New Century Version (hereafter known as YB-NCV) was the translation of choice. At first, I was a bit lukewarm to YB-NCV, but after the chaplain I knew gave me a copy, I started to use the YB-NCV. Unlike other Teen Bibles, the YB-NCV educates our youth by giving short stories that have references to scripture and that are revolent to their lives. In doing this, the YB-NCV does not dumb down the message of scripture or pander to the lowest demographic. When it comes to the New Century translation, I find to be really good. The NCV uses gender-sensitive language, which is a Good Thing. It's a strong contender for #1 thought for thought English Bible (compared to the GNT and NLT). Overall, the YB-NCV is a good Bible for youth.
