This book says what I have a hard time saying Although I'm a strong believer and born-again Christian, I'm not much of an evangelist. To me this book is a wonderful tool for the evangelism-impaired like me to give to family and friends to show them Jesus and why my faith means everything to me. Thank you David Gregory, this little book is inspired.
Great Book I loved this book- It is one I have and will continue to give it to friends who are not Christians or are just starting their walk of faith. It really shows a personal Savior. It touched my heart and has been a blessing to others I have given it to. If you are looking for a way to reach into someone's life with the love of Christ, give them a copy of this book.
This is not my experience of Jesus I was drawn to this book because of the premise--I want to know what it would be like to have dinner with Jesus. My experience of Jesus in prayer and from the Bible is quite different than the Jesus portrayed in "Dinner with a Perfect Stranger." My experience of Jesus is that he leads with love and compassion, and melts away my resistance to love. In the presence of the power of Jesus, I am able to see things more clearly and it is easier to have my heart open to others. The Jesus of this book came across to me as a clever academic that found witty ways to make didactic points. It is hard for me to imagine Jesus making arguments about why other religions are worthless. I did appreciated the more personal approach that Gregory has Jesus take at the end of the book. ^M
