Easily to understand and accurate.

I have a LOT of different versions of the Bible which I use in my ministry work, and am always looking for modern English versions which I can unreservedly recommend to those that have problems with the King James Version. MANY of the modern translations are not worth reading, as they have this agenda or that denomination or some other viewpoint which they promote. The CEV is very readable, and has no such bias that I have found yet. I still recommend the KJV as the closest to the original language, but if you want a Bible that is easy to understand and quite accurate, this is it!

Great for teen Bible study

I bought 10 copies of this Bible for a teen Bible study I'm doing with 7th-12th graders, most of whom have no knowledge of the Bible at all, other than what they learned from Veggie Tales! The translation is easy to understand and non-intimidating. We always stop at an exciting point in a story, and some of them are starting to read alone at home to see how the story ends. The extremely reasonable price made it easy for me to buy several of them, and because we all have the exact same Bible (not just the same translation), we can all turn to the same page until they become more familiar with the layout of the Bible. I'm ordering 5 more!

Good resource version

I found this translation of the bible to be more accurate in some areas. Instead of the literal translation it often takes the meaning of the messeage from the original greek and hebrew and conveys it better. I was surpized to find a good subject index and a read through the bible in a year section. But I thought the paper and cover quality could have been better. Its fine for the price I suppose but I personally would want a sturdier binding and paper quality. Overall it is as good or better than I expected and great for alternative bible translation.
