Too basic...
I found the book a little too basic and 'borrowed' concepts from many other practical leadership books. I also seemed to think Mr. Stanley was WAY to into talking about his mega-church. Not to mention the dust-cover is the trashiest looking attention getter.^M
Secular leadership tools with a strong Christian bent
Pastor Andy Stanley's book Next Generation Leader: Five Essentials for Those Who Will Shape the Future is one of those books you want to read with a highlighter in your hands. It isn't that what he is saying hasn't been said in other motivation and leadership training books, it's the fact that he says his message in an honest, disciplined, yet loving tone. It comes off like a lecture you want to hear. He doesn't pull punches in laying out the need for focus, task priorities, strong personal ethics, vision, and continuous training. ^M
A Must Have
I have read a lot of books on leadership. Some are practical and some are just plain irrelevant. Andy Stanley's book "Next Generation Leader" is possibly one of the best and most relevant leadership books I have ever read. He writes this book with the young leader in mind and offers tips and advice for the leaders who are in position to lead this next generation of people. ^M
